Umtrieb-Galerie für aktuelle Kunst präsentiert in Basel drei Künstler der Galerie, die sich auf unterschiedlichste Weisen mit dem Mystischen in der Kunst auseinandersetzen: Olrik Kohlhoff (Zeichnungen, Druckgrafik), Kirsten Krüger (Installationen) und Jakob Jensen (Fotografie).
Olrik Kohlhoffs Arbeiten zeichnen sich durch eine teils humorvolle, teils subtil-grausame Auseinandersetzung mit der Wirklichkeit aus, auf der Suche nach dem, was die Welt zusammenhält.
Kirsten Krüger erschafft mit unterschiedlichsten natürlichen und künstlichen Materialien irritierende Raum-Bilder, die einerseits einen surrealen Bilck auf die Welt werfen und andererseits Künstlichkeit (auch in der Kunst) hinterfragen.
Ausgehend von einfachem Alltagsmaterial entwickelt Jakob Jensen in seinem fotografischen Werk Ansichten des Universums, erschafft Städte am Meer und klare Landschaften. Aber wo beginnt das Bild, Wirklichkeit abzubilden?

Umtrieb-Galerie für aktuelle Kunst want´s to present three artists, who deal most differently with the mystical in art: Olrik Kohlhoff (Drawings, Prints), Kirsten Krüger (Installation) and Jakob Jensen (Photography).
Olrik Kohlhoffs works feature the halfway humorous, halfway subtile-cruelly controversy with reality, in search of whatever holds the world together in its inmost folds.
Kirsten Krüger creates irritating room-tableaus from various natural and artificial materials, which take a surreal look at the surrounding and also question the artificiality (of fine arts as well).
Starting from simple materials Jakob Jensen develops images of the universe, builds cities by the sea and clearly arranged landscapes. But where does the picture starts to depict reality?

Umtrieb-Galerie für aktuelle Kunst präsentiert fünf künstlerische Positionen, die sich mit der Wahrnehmung von Realität beschäftigen.
Die intellektuelle und materielle Herangehensweise ist dabei sehr verschieden: Jakob Jensen stellt die (klassische) Frage nach der Wirklichkeit in der Fotografie, Katja Flieger nähert sich installativ der Orientierung im Raum und Johanna Schwarz und Olrik Kohlhoff thematisieren das gedankliche Dazwischen in ihren Zeichnungen. Ruti Helbitz Cohen greift die politische Dimension des Themas auf und konfrontiert den Betrachter mit alltäglichen Ängsten im Krisengebiet.
Für die Präsentation ergibt sich soweit ein Miteinander von Installation, Fotografie und Zeichnung, die künstlerischen Positionen heben sich deutlich voneinander ab, stellen aber inhaltliche Bezüge her und ergeben so eine vielschichtige Ausstellung.

Auf der scope Basel zeigt Umtrieb-Galerie für aktuelle Kunst folgende künstlerische Positionen:

Jakob Jensen (Fotografie und Installation), Kirsten Krüger (Skulptur), Johanna Schwarz (Malerei und Zeichnung), Olrik Kohlhoff (Zeichnung), Stefanie Neumann (Radierung).
Auch in diesem Jahr gibt es wieder stray for art: Dieses Kunstprojekt im öffentlichen Raum parallel zur Messe, organisiert von Umtrieb zeigt Arbeiten aus den Bereichen Performance, Film, Installation und Aktion.

Schaufensterlesung (Shopwindowreading)
Taking place on Saturday the 16th at noon

Five actors are walking through downtown Basel. They are wearing T-shirts with the inscription: Schaufensterlesung. In their hands they are holding megaphones. Without adding any of their own words they are reading only the texts they find on the fronts of buildings, in the windows of the shops and on the bags and clothes of pedestrians.

Umtrieb Gallery presents various artists (Elsbeth Arlt, Matthias Berthold, Benjamin Stumpf) to the public. Josephin Boettger, Matthias Schamp, Katja B. Flieger, Ilse Ermen and Ruppe Koselleck themselves will personally intervene everyday-life with their artists-actions and presentation in and around Basel. Using a generator on wheels and a small, portable projector, the projections appear on the walls, ceilings and floors of public space – a type of video graffiti. At NeoBreo people can choose short films from her program. Basel city and NeoBreo.

Stray for Art: Ruppe Koselleck, "Porsche Komplex"
The artist will stage the trial parking scheme of 336 die-cast porsche cars within a single parking spot in downtown Basel. Koselleck will be present in the role of a car dealer. He will endeavor to sell many of these personally signed cars for a large sum of money. The proceeds thereof will be reinveted in further die-cast porsches. 10 000 of them will be parked in a spot in Kurfuerstendamm, Berlinn 2008. Bejing will then follow.
We need your porsche. The artist will be very grateful for all porsche donations leading to the relisation of this project. They can be sent directly to his gallery.

Außerdem wurden die Editionen der Galerie präsentiert.

Parallel dazu begab sich Umtrieb auf einen Streifzug durch die Großstadt. 17 vorwiegend schleswig-holsteinische Künstlerinnen und Künstler zeigten Performances, Videos und Installationen im öffentlichen Raum. Dokumentiert wurde dieses Projekt gleichzeitig auf der scope London an einer eigenen Wand.

Zu Stray for Art ist eine Postkarten-Edition mit 18 Postkarten erschienen (Auflage 100 numerierte Exemplare), gedruckt von der Umtriebpresse. Diese Edition kann über die Galerie für 30,- € incl. MwSt. erworben werden.
